so the question is: is it time to release ronnie biggs
should it not be: was it ever right to imprision an elderly, frail, stroke-victim for the sake of bloddy-minded revenge? |

i am glad that you agree about the release issue surrounding mr biggs.
i think the problem is that the establishment are generally motivated by 'revenge' instead of 'justice'. i would welcome any discussion on this point of view, especially from mr di stefano! |

|
|
Ronnie Biggs did commit the crimes he was convicted and sentenced for - no-one is denying that he took part in the great train robbery..
--------------------------------------------------------------
Yes, it has taken quite some time for the authorities to finally get their hands on the man and it looks like they do not want to let go of him easily..
------------------------------------------------------------
But on compassionate grounds there is a case to be argued for his immedaite release to be authorised - he is no longer a threat to anyone and could be paroled.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
At least this is what I believe.. |

Provisions exist for the governor of any prison, to grant early release on Parole license on compassionate grounds to any inmate sentenced by the courts, whether or not the sentence was one of life imprisonment, and furthermore, provisions exist for additional applications to be made every six months after the date of refusal on the original or foregoing application.
These provisions do exist but are not well publicized..
Ronnie Biggs does not have to wait until Christmas to be considered for release on parole license, an application can be submitted now.. |
